Alfred Hitchcock KBE (13 August 1899 – 29 April 1980) was an English film director, producer, and screenwriter. He is one of the most influential and widely studied filmmakers in movie history. He directed over 50 films over his six decades career, gave many interviews, provided cameo roles in most of his films, hosted and produced the television series Alfred Hitchcock Presents (1955-65). He became one of the best-known and recognized entertainment icons of his time.
His well-known films include Psycho, North by Northwest, Rear Window, Vertigo, Notorious, Strangers on a Train, Rebecca, and many more. His films earned 46 Academy Award nominations including six wins. He was nominated five times for Best Director (though he never won). His masterful directing has inspired many directors and film techniques that are still widely used today.
