Robert Fludd (17 January 1574 – 8 September 1637) was a prominent English physician and polymath. He is recognized for his work as an astrologer, mathematician, cosmologist, and Qabalist, and for his defence of Rosicrucianism.

He is, perhaps, best known for his compilations in occult philosophy. It was between 1617 and 1621 that he
published his masterwork Utriusque Cosmi, which was split into two volumes and filled with many highly-detailed engravings.

This engraving from 1619 features the alphabet as objects as part of a mnemonic Art of Memory series.
